Upcoming Workshops
PARTNER PILATES WORKSHOP – for Pilates’ instructors
with Colleen Jorgensen
Monday, August 17th, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Cost: $40 + tax
Partner work can add variety and fun to your group classes but, more importantly, working with a partner can assist clients in awakening their cross chain, neuromuscular connections. The biofeedback given by a partner enables the client to feel the muscle firing pattern recruited when the body is unable to compensate. This workshop will teach instructors how to guide their clients through partner work as a way to correct compensations and muscular inhibition and / or assist them through exercises their bodies are not yet strong enough to execute on their own.
Maximum 12 participants.
FALL 2009
Rehab through Pilates:
Continuing Education Course for Pilates Instructors
This 32 hour course is designed to help Pilates' instructors enhance their palpation and analysis skills. By the end of the 4-day course, you will look at your clients very differently and approach their program design from an entirely new perspective. Incorporating manual skills and intelligent movement choices, you will learn to look at your clients from the inside out and never look at the spine the same way again.
This 4-day course includes a detailed manual and emphasizes:
- Hands-on Pilates (improving tactile cueing and evaluation)
- How to evaluate the functional mobility of the spine
- How to evaluate the functional strength of the stabilizing muscles
- Exercise variations to add more spine extension, rotation and lateral flexion to the traditional Pilates' repertoire
- The use of props to assist spine articulation and stability
