Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that has been around for over a century that aims at sensing and reestablishing mobility and balance through all the different parts of the body. It is a very gentle but deep approach that looks at the root cause of a problem, rather than simply treating the symptoms.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise that works the deep core and postural muscles of the body, providing stability and support for the spine. Focusing on awareness of breath, proper alignment and intelligent movement, Pilates provides a whole-body workout, creates mental focus and flexible, strong muscles.
I am new to exercise, can I take Pilates group classes?
Yes! However, while it isn't mandatory, we do recommend that you take the Intro to Pilates package (3 private or semi private sessions) first, or concurrently so that you can learn the basic techniques and get the most out of your classes. This is especially important if you have any recent injuries, back pain or other concerns.
What should I wear to my Pilates class?
You should wear cloths that are comfortable and allow you to stretch and move easily. Pilates is done bare foot (or in socks) so no special footwear is required.
What is the difference between a Group Class and a Trio?
Group classes have between 4 and 8 participants per class and we focus on Pilates mat repertoire while including variations using the ballet barre and other small toys.
Trios are semi-private classes of 2 to 3 participants and we use larger equipment such as the arc barrel, reformer, cadillac and chair.
